Undone
BACKGROUND
One of the benefits of having my own site is that it gives me a bit more space to provide some context about my songs. The meaning or applicability of lyrics (at least from a writer’s view) can change over time as situations and perspectives shift. Undone is a good example of that. The song was written many years ago, as just an acoustic guitar and vocal arrangement. At the time, it described a friend who realized they weren’t being true to themselves, nor to the person they were with. Looking back now, for me the song also generally represents moments we perhaps all feel from time to time, when we long to be free of all obligations, even if just momentarily.
A big thank you to Andre Fratto for his assistance with some of the mixing, as well as Tobias Gebb for encouragement and advice. I also want to thank Bill Emerson for helping get Kill Room Studios ready for action, and as always Cathy and Noah for love, support, perspective and constructive critiques.
